pediatricAny time you talk about kids’ health you have a very important topic. Pediatrics and Chiropractic starts with identifying if there is anything with a child’s health that isn’t as optimal as it could be. At Monee Wellness, we work hard to be very attentive to a child’s situation. Most kids that come in as patients are doing great; but unless they are checked, we don't know for sure.

Some examples of symptomatic children that have responded well to care in our office include kids with colic, reflux, bowel movements that are too slow or fast, misshapen head, head tilt, the list goes on and on.

In summary, having your kids checked is a smart idea, especially at all of the different stages of development: birth, holding their head up, crawling, walking and of course, when they begin to increase activity (sports) etc.

Here are some pediatric FAQs:

Can babies be chiropractic patients?

Yes! The birthing process can be traumatic for both the mother and the child. Starting in the womb, through contractions and even more so during birth, each infant endures physical stress. All of these events can cause their bodies to sustain minor injuries which can cause long term negative effects. More often, these are very subtle and can go undetected. We can help to identify and remove these problems before they ever create or cause symptoms. When infants already have symptoms (i.e.- colic, constipation, uneven head shape) we can help evaluate too.

Can kids benefit from chiropractic care?

Yes. Chiropractic is extremely safe and effective with young ones. From early on children are bouncing off of their parent’s shoulders, bouncing off of walls, and jumping off of furniture. All of these events can cause their bodies to sustain minor injuries that can cause long term negative effects. Chiropractic can identify and remove these problems before they ever create or cause symptoms.

Are infant treatments and kid treatments the same as adults?

Simply put, no. Every patient is different but the pressure used for little one is very light compared to an adult. Infants for example most often are treated with about the pressure it takes to smoosh a tomato. Everything we do is based on being safe and effective.

These are a few of the most frequently asked questions about pediatrics and chiropractic asked in our office. If you have additional questions or need more information about any of the questions listed here, please feel free to contact us. We would be happy to answer any of your questions!
